PLEASE NOTE: EarmarkWatch is an experimental distributed research project that contains data for Fiscal Year 2008 earmarks from the House and Senate Labor-HHS-Education bills and the 2008 House Defense Bill.

It does not contain 2009 earmarks. Congress released earmark disclosures for an omnibus bill that included three of the twelve regular appropriations bills—Defense, Homeland Security, and Military Construction/Veterans Affairs—for fiscal year 2009.

A downloadable spreadsheet listing those earmarks is available from Taxpayers for Common Sense (xls).

Short Description of Recipient Organization:
Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin is the largest of more than 168 Goodwill organizations in North America. More than 4,000 Goodwill employees work in over 50 locations throughout 23 counties in southeastern Wisconsin and metropolitan Chicago.

Goodwill provides training, employment and supportive services for people with disabilities or disadvantages who seek greater independence. In 2007, we served over 15,000 individuals, all striving to overcome disabilities or disadvantages. Goodwill's objective is to assist program participants in developing or securing work opportunities that fulfill their personal and professional goals, while providing wages and benefits that maintain self-sufficiency.

Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin, Inc., has been providing services since 1919. We pursue and achieve our mission by operating diverse businesses: participant programs and services, retail and salvage sales, industrial subcontracts and laundry, and service contracts with the government.

Since 1972, selected Goodwill programs and services have been accredited by CARF, the Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission.

As a non-profit organization, Goodwill appreciates the continued support of government funding sources, local and national foundations, and corporate and individual donors. Equally important, however, are Goodwill's own initiatives, which help us remain a self-sustaining organization. A vital evaluation of any non-profit is how revenue is used: at Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin, 93 cents of every dollar we spend directly supports our programs and services.
