They do look good, but why are they in an earmark and not in the general military budget?

Wool is good in hot and cold. Sure its warm which is good at night in the desert but they also breath well to stay cool in the heat. So while I can't speak for this brand, the general idea of wool socks in itself isn't a bad thing. Probably should be in the budget and not an earmark though.

This is no different than the flat-racks earmarks. The Corps should be providing equipment to Marines after it goes through the proper testing/vetting/budget processes, not in an earmark.

One of the things I always wondered about the Corps was why they would always hammer us with stories about how Congress wanted to assimilate the Corps into the Navy for budgetary considerations... And we always made a big deal about "never spending our full budget" because, somehow, it made us look like we were really worth it to Congress.

1 hour on this site and I'm beginning to understand where the money really comes from...
