Comments, notes, additional research...

Malden Mills filed for bankruptcy for the second time in 2007 as reported by the Boston Globe on January 11, 2007 (http://www.boston.com/business/articles/2007/01/11/malden_mills_files_second_chapter_11/). This is the business that burned to the ground in 1995 and the owner (it was family owned for generations) refused to lay anyone off and rebuilt the business. There is a Study in Leadership at http://www.opi-inc.com/malden.htm.
They went through some tough economic times after the fire in rebuilding and the company was acquired by Polartec, LLC as reported here http://www.polartec.com/contentmgr/showdetails.php/id/1349.
Polartec acquired virtually all of their assets from Malden Mills on March 14, 2007 and Malden Mills now only exists as their online store.
