Is there intelligent life elsewhere in the universe? This is an interesting question which science can address. I have read about the Allen Telescope Array. It seems to me that this is a good use of our tax money. If a signal is found, consider how important this will be. If no signal is found, philosophers can ponder the implications.

The right question to ask is should this be included in the House Defense Appropriations. I would say probably not. I like SETI and I have used SETI@home, but unless we are being attacked by aliens, this should probably not be considered defense. It would be intresting to get Rep. Eshoo thinking on this.
